If there are a few of us where this is true, then I wonder how many people across the board are also experiencing similar disastrous affects of sugar?

It's a constant struggle for me. I either have to quit cold turkey or try my best every single day to moderate my intake. Some days are easier than others with no apparent explanation! I try to always have on hand dried fruit and fresh fruit and I keep my pantry virtually sugar-free. So it's when I'm out in the world that I'm mostly tempted.....sweets look very appetizing behind a shiny glass window.

I'd love to hear more about how your week goes and I'm curious to know if your reflux returns or not. This is quite interesting!

Thank you for writing.
My Year Withouthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17290085498074393110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2743655253913703801.post-59068133430912906012018-01-18T03:36:14.141-08:002018-01-18T03:36:14.141-08:00Hi. As I cut out sugar this week, I remembered your blog and wondered how you're doing. Glad to see you came back to update with your experience and insight! My step-mother also can't consume sugar after 7 p.m., or else she either has troubles sleeping or wakes suddenly in the middle of the night with no hope of more sleep.

Interestingly, I'm noticing that cutting out sugar has suddenly stopped my reflux and I'm trying to research more about why that's so.
Locavore Familyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13943014536162527005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2743655253913703801.post-20108710319520045132018-01-17T07:23:01.892-08:002018-01-17T07:23:01.892-08:00Could this be done with whole wheat flour? I think the key is using instant yeast, and the amount of salt called for does add a nice savory, salty element. One week, we feel super healthy and energized -- working out every day, skipping the post-meal sweets, and drinking gallons of water. The next week, all we want is to binge on chocolate and peanut butter. It's a cycle, and I think the most important thing to realize is that we're never going to be perfect. We will always have cravings and weak moments for as long as we live. But life is not about waiting for our best self, or our healthiest self to magically appear one day and stay forever. It's about dealing with every moment as it comes, knowing that it's okay to win some and lose some.

Eat another scoop of ice cream today, and start again tomorrow.Emily A. Good for you for giving up soda.......Hi Just_Jon,

Good for you for giving up soda....and now sugar for Lent! I think you're in for a real treat (pun intended). Not sure about the light headedness (withdrawal?). You are wise to look for substitutes. That's what ultimately led me to being successful going without sugar for so long.
So in answer to your question, I have a question for you: Are you drinking juice? Are sugars from fruit okay? If so, there are a plethora of soda-like drinks that are basically fruit juice with carbonation, such as Izze drinks, Reed's Ginger drinks (may use honey as a sweetener?) and some other similar beverages found at a health food store. Do you live in an area with a Whole Foods or other health food store? Someone in the grocery department will show you what they have without sugar or gross sugar substitutes.
Also, if you're drinking juice, the grocery store always has those little cans of pineapple and apple juice. Those are nice to have with me, tucked in a bag.
I hope this helps!
Sounds like you're doing great. My Year Withouthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17290085498074393110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2743655253913703801.post-64828137316782845622013-02-14T10:26:58.300-08:002013-02-14T10:26:58.300-08:00I gave up soft drinks a few weeks ban and when len...I gave up soft drinks a few weeks ban and when lent came around I decided to give up all sugar. Of course we can go 100% without sugar again, but the commitment and getting started again is so slow going. Yes, sugar is absolutely addictive! I just came across your blog when trying to figure out if I could eat dark chocolate while on my "no refined sugar" kick, but had to comment on the juicing. My husband and I started juicing at the beginning of this year, also after watching Fat Sick and Nearly Dead. We just substituted some form of green juice for breakfast each morning, and then sometimes have juice as an afternoon "snack" if we do desire. The difference is incredible, I am looking forward to seeing what you think. We have more energy, have both lost weight, and generally feel cleaner. And as a result, we are eating a lot more vegetables with our other meals as well. Plus, the juice is super yummy! Tips: throw in a lemon, it adds a nice kick. A lot of people add ginger, but we found it to be horrid. Have fun with it!WhitMchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05941593118951192249noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2743655253913703801.post-35199560218837945232012-02-08T11:21:10.728-08:002012-02-08T11:21:10.728-08:00I am so glad to have found this blog.
